BIOGRAPHY

Having obtained a Distinction for her Bachelor's Degree at the Paris Conservatoire (National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris), mezzo-soprano Marine Chagnon is finishing a Master's Degree in Elene Golgevit's class. She completes this training with master-classes given by renowned artists: Ludovic Tézier, Anne Sofie von Otter, Barbara Hannigan, Mireille Delunsch, Karine Deshayes,… Fascinated by the multiplicity of art forms she has found in opera, she has also trained in modern jazz dance as well as drama, and is exploring a wide variety of musical styles, from early music to contemporary musicals.

 

She has appeared as Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana, the Chinese Cup and the Cat in l'Enfant et les Sortilèges (in the Concert Tôt at the Théâtre du Châtelet), Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Nancy in Albert Herring, the Third Lady in The Magic Flute, the title role in La Périchole (Théâtre National de Bayonne), Annio in La Clemenza di Tito (Grand Théâtre de Dijon), Lucilla in La Scala di Seta by Rossini in a CNSMDP / Philharmonie de Paris coproduction, amongst others. In the field of early music, she has performed the role of Euridice in Orfeo at the Dijon Opera, and that of Venus in Il ballo delle ingrate at the Paris Conservatoire, directed by Paul Agnew, and has also taken part in other productions with Williams Christie and Les Arts Florissants - Jephthe and a program Monteverdi / Caccini. She sang the second soprano solo in the Monteverdi Vespers with Simon Pierre-Bestion's La Tempête ensemble at the Noirlac Festival.

 

She was awarded the Young Performer's Prize at the Concours International de Mâcon in 2018, and the Special Jury Pri ze at the Concours International de Canari in Corsica in 2019, as well as this year's Dauphin de Verna prize from the Fondation de France. She is an alumna of such distinguished programs as the Villecroze and Royaumont Academies, and Philippe Jaroussky's and Frivolités Parisiennes.

 

Due to Covid-19, Marine suffered several cancellations: the role of Nicolette in the production of Prokofiev's Amour des Trois Oranges at the Opéra National de Lorraine; the role of Beauty , in Beauty and the Beast by Philipp Glass at the Grand Théâtre de Caen, at the Théâtre de l'Athénée, then on tour in France with the Orchester Régional de Normandie.

 

Marine participates in the new streaming-production of die Zauberflöte of the Opéra de Vichy in the role of Zweite Dame and approaches the role of Mélisande (Pelleas and Mélisande, Debussy) in a web serie imagined by Emmanuelle Cordoliani. She will perform next July alongside tenor Kevin Amiel and the Orchester du Palais Royal for a French opera recital. She will debut as Don Giovanni's Zerlina next August at the Les Concerts au Coucher du Soleil festival under the direction of Cyril Diederich.

She is also laureate of the patron Patrick Petit and will record her first disc with the pianist Joséphine Ambroselli, around the repertoire of Swedish melodies.

 

Marine is joining the Académie de l'Opéra de Paris for the 2021/2022 season.
